No, on two counts. The hours must be Board-approved for you to retain the credit, and at least one of the four must be exclusively on Mississippi Public Accountancy Law and Regulations. A general ethics course cannot cover that hour.
Yes. The application for CPE programme approval may be submitted to the Board by either the CPE sponsor or the individual CPA. The form is on the Board's Forms and Documents page.
Yes. Self-study is only accepted from sponsors approved under NASBA's Quality Assurance Service programme, and independent study is not accepted for credit at all. Credit is also prohibited for quizzers or programmes requiring only the reading of reference materials.
The reporting period runs 1 July to 30 June annually with 40 hours required each year, and the licence renews on 1 January. CPE must be reported by 1 August even if the number reported is zero.
If you are licensed in that state and comply with its ethics CPE requirement, that satisfies Mississippi's, with documentation. If you are primarily employed in another state but not licensed there, you must complete four hours of Mississippi Board-approved ethics.
